The starting was very slow. There was hardly any bites in the first few spots.
Raju was very hardworking thou, changing spot again and again trying to get the right spot.

The silence was finally broke at 11am! Was holding onto my trusty banana rod bouncing the sinker along the seabed concentrating for any bites when I felt some nibbles on the other end.

Paused for a sec, nibbles get stronger and Strike!!! Fish ON!

Slowly pumped and reeled it in... This fishy made a few dashes several times making my reel screaming in pain. Took me 4-5 mins before it came up to the surface!

My First Chao Xi est ard 1kg

It my First wild Fish for 2011 and my First Chao Xi. Was very happy and relieved that I managed to land it. My hand was actually shivering after the fight.....

We moved on to another spot after this catch but still there wasn't any fishy ard...

Raju decided to bring us to a spot that need at least a size 10 sinker to touch bottom.

The current was very strong and I was combining a size 4 and a size 8 sinker in order to touch bottom.

Oliver made his first cast and immediately got a strong bite!
A 2kg + Ang Kuay!

CK also got a bite!

A 1kg + Ang Zho

As the sea is pretty rough, we have 2 merlions onboard too..

Could not remember exactly which fish was landed first and at which spot.
But we move on to a few other spots and landed a few other fishes.

Oliver managed to land a 1kg + Deformed Grouper that ermm...look pretty disgusting..

Boatman say the deformed part could have been bitten off or injured and it growing back.

Ryan with his catches, 800 grams Parrot and 1kg + Kaci

I landed my First Mouse Grouper too! It was said to be a very very rare catch. A delicacy especially in Hong Kong. Worth at least SGD 80 for a dead one & SGD 150 for a live one!!!

Raju even took out his personal camera to take a picture. Guess my face going to be in his album. Haha!

Everyone wanted a shot with this rare prized catch - Mouse Grouper!

Managed to land a Ang Zho at the last 2nd spot

Ah Seng landed at the last spot by CK

Total Catch of the Day. (Excluding many Johnsons which we released)

CK: 2 Ang Zho & 1 Ah Seng

A Trap Not Meant for Mr Soon......

Venue: Yishun Dam
Time: 7pm - 9.30pm
Bait: Kembong
Rig: Crab Trap
Weather: Cloudy
Date: 16th Oct 2010(Sat)

Must be surprised to see my post again after close to 3 months right?
You must be thinking that I am going thru a long dry spell and have nothing to post at all right?

Nah......I actually did not even wet my line.
Stopped fishing due to a few reasons......

Anyway back to this post. It was never meant to be a fishing post. But well.........

One fine day, me and cx wanted to try out crabbing at a spot which I used to swear by my life to be infested with crabs. But I was wrong......

We setup our trap at a 'spot' and went home. When we went back to collect our trap at 9.30pm. We got a pleasant surprise. No crabs at all but.....................

The trap with my baits and my catches...

Got 2 small fishes which I released straight away and one SoonHock!

Mr Soon lying on his back....

Mr Koh and Mr Soon...

After some hesitation, I decided to release it as it was too small for consumption.

Made a mistake while trying to release it back by throwing it back into the sea using the trap. It got stuck and landed on a rock with a 'piak'!

Got worried and started searching for it thru the rocks. Without a torchlight, it was definitely hard to find Mr Soon in the darkness.

It took me abt 5 mins before I finally spotted Mr Soon lying on the grass! Quickly scooped it up with my hands and it was still breathing! Thank God...

Quickly released it back into the water and it went off with a splash.. Hopefully it was not badly hurt.

First Grassie..

Venue: Fishing Paradise (BTP)
Time: 5pm-10pm?
Bait: Bread
Rig: Apollo using 'Marker'
Weather: Cloudy
Date: 18th July 2010 (Sun)

It been almost a month for this CR. Busy combined with laziness will be the main reason why it was long overdue. Haha..

To be honest, I cant remember much about the details. Only remembered we caught our first grassie!

After setting the hook, I passed the rod to Cx. Took her less than 3 mins and it was landed!

Missy fighting..

And me with our first Grassie!

This grassie was our only catch that day. However it was not the highlight of the day.

Highlight of the day was the rented house rod (banana rod) flew into the pond when I was on my way to the tackle shop!!!

It took the staffs about an hour before they finally retrieved the rod. Thank God, they managed to get back the rod as the whole setup cost over $200!!!

Back To Bread.............

Venue: Fishing Paradise (BTP)
Time: 4.30pm - 7.30pm
Bait: Bread
Rig: Apollo
Weather: Sunny
Date: 12th June 2010 (Sat)

Judging from the last post, it is very obvious I am on a long dry spell.

Determined to break the dry spell and also the virgin of my new banana rod, I switched back to hunting for the Rohus and Patins!

Reached, setup and my first bread hit the water at 4.30pm. My hopes of landing a fish diminished as the clock ticks by.....

1 hour passed and I did not even registered a bite. Was getting less and less hopeful when my banana rod suddenly gave the usual strong and fierce bend at 5.40 pm! The bend sent me rushing toward the rod........

Almost slipped down but managed to quickly regain back my position. Grabbed the rod and Yes!

Fish On!!!

Took 2-3 mins and the fish finally gave up...

Landed!

Rohu!

Finally broke my dry spell and the virgin of my banana rod.

Another fishy came to visit us at 6.10pm.

This time round passed the rod over to Chunxia.

Landed within 1-2 mins

Another Rohu!

Packed up at 7.30pm to catch South Korea Vs Greece!
