Venue: Kyoto Pond
Time: 11pm - 3.25am
Bait: 100 grams Live Prawns & 10 Milkfishes
Rig: Single hook rig with split shot & Floater
Weather: Cloudy
Date: 20th - 21th Nov 2009 (Fri -Sat)

Received a sms on Wed. "Interested to go Kyoto Pond?" by Qw. Immediately on him!

Been reading alot of positive reviews and rumours were spreading that this pond is going to be closed down by AVA by end of Nov.

We reached there at ard 10.30pm and was suprised that it was quite packed. Since we were there, we decided to proceed with fishing!

Views of the Kyoto's Pond

We were expecting quite alot of actions due to the price and the positive reviews. However, we were very wrong.

No fishes were landed from 11pm - 12.30am. Throughout this 1.5 hour, I got a couple of bites but there was no hookup. What was more frustrating was that I kept getting sangkot. Fedup, I decided to change to floater.

At ard 12.40am, I moved to one corner of the pond as adviced by one regular. As usual, my float was floating aimlessly without any action at all.

Was dreaming and waiting for my fishy when suddenly I saw my float sank! Quickly took my rod and prepared to strike. Line tightened! Gave a strike and Bissssshhhh! Saw a big splash followed by a big puddle of water.....

What came next was definitely soothing to the ears of every angler... ZZzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzZzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz........... my 15lbs monoline being peeled out to the right.

Started pumping the fish as it dashed towards the left...to the NET!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Quickly pumped it back to the right as my line kept being pulled out at a fast rate. After 5 mins of tug of war, the fishy finally surrendered and yes break my egg!

Estimate min 3-4kg Kbl. Took a quick shot and it was released back.

For those of you wondering why it was released back. Fishes weighing 3kg and above are to be CNR according to the rules of this pond.

Was quite glad that I finally managed to land something as 3 hours were going to be up soon. Quickly rebait and hopefully catch one more before 2am.

Soon it was 2am and our floats were still floating ard happily. Seeing that we were catching nothing, the staff was kind enough to let us continue. Kudos to him!

Thou we were allowed to continue but we were still catching nothing! Was waiting for mircale to happen when we noticed a float with lightstick floating near our floats at ard 3am.

It was a burst off from someone line and you know what? A fish was definitely connected to the float as we could see the float sinking every now and then.

The float was floating toward my float and BANG! It crossed my line and Fish On!!!! Sibei Taiko Sia........

The fight was strong and it took me 2-3 mins to pump the fish to the bank. It was a big Kim estimated ard 2-3kg. Pumped it toward the staff who was helping me to land the Kim. He grabbed hold of the leader and Bissshhhhhhhh.... Saw a loud splash as the Kim made it way for safety. What a waste!

We decided to pack up at ard 3.15am. Took my rod and went to my right. Gave a last cast near the rocks at the centre and went to 'release' the leftover prawns and milkfish.

Walked back to my rod and noticed that the line was moving abit. Did not suspected anything as the line was slacked. Took my rod and reeled in when I felt something heavy. Gave a strike and YES!!! Fish On!!!

Another nice fight. Definitely cannot compared with the 2 earlier fights but still it was fun! Played with it slowly and finally saw the fishy after 1 min. Ang Zhor!!!

A last min catch and not the usual kims definitely made my day!

Est ard 1.5kg Ang Zhor
The staff gave us another Ang Zhor when we were packing up. Nice gesture from him!
Something to bring home.... 2 Ang Zhors
Total Catch: 1 Kim est ard 3-4 kg
1 Ang Zhor est ard 1.5kg

It was a quiet night for me. Only managed to get 1-2 bites and landed one and only fishy. On the otherhand, Qw was quite lucky.

Est the fish to be ard 2kg.

2nd Trip to Ed's Pro Pond

Venue: Ed's Pro Pond
Time: 2.10pm - 7.10pm
Bait: 100 grams Live Prawns
Rig: Single hook rig with split shot
Weather: Cloudy
Date: 7th Nov 2009 (Sat)

2nd trip to Ed's Pro Pond. Got a big fat zero the first time and decided to try it out again...
Reached the pond at ard 2pm, paid for the rod and off my prawn diving into the salty water.

As usual, the hot spot was flooded with beehoons wannabe

It was pretty quiet. Only saw 1-2 fishes landed in the first hour there.

Was chatting with Cx halfway when one regular came over and talk to me. He advised me to cast at a certain spot and sounded SUPER confident.

Followed his advice and recast my bait. Within 2-3mins, my rod gave a few strong jerks! Boy, I was soooo impressed by this guy.

Grabbed my rod and strike hard! Fish On!!! Line was peeling out as I slowly pumped the fish to the surface. The fight was definitely superb.

The fish did managed to dash into some structures at one point of time. Loosen the line tension and saw a reddie figure swam out. Quickly pumped it up to the surface and YES!

Broke my egg. Estimated 800 grams Mangrove Jack in the basket!

Cx casting to the 'hotspot'

Rebait and off goes another prawn diving into the water. Waited for another 30-45 mins when I spotted my rod tip giving a light tug. Stood up, took my rod and slowly tightened the main line..

"Got Fish?", said the regular. I replied " I think got"...with a smile.
Tightened the line and yes a fish on the other end! Gave a tug and WOW! Another awesome fight.

The fish dived down immediately after I striked. Hold my rod up and kept pumping it to prevent it dashing into its hiding place. However this bugger was strong. I could only watch helplessly as it happily made its way into it hiding place.

Quickly walked over to the left side of the pond and tried pumping it out. Phew~ managed to coax it out and it started peeling my line to the right, left, right and left.

Without any doubt, fishes at this pond fights better than Tmj, Prpp and Prmp. After a min of tug of war, it finally surrender and off it went into the basket.

Est. 800grams MJ & 1.5kg AZ

At this point of time, the regular kept talking abt fishing for Kim Cheow. He wanted to get a Kim Cheow as bait for the resident grouper.

Actually, I was abit reluctant. Totally not interested in Kim Cheow at all. But since I landed the 2 fishes from his hotspot, I went off with him to look for Kim Cheow.

Started fishing for Kim Cheow at ard 4.15pm but he could not get any at all. He got 3-4 bites but none was landed. Was getting impatient and took back my rod at ard 5.05pm.

Was hoping for a few more catches but it was super quiet in the evening. Only managed to register a bite but did not managed to hookup.

Packed up at 7.10pm. Thou catches was pathetic but I was very satisfied. Been quite awhile, I had such awesome fights.
