Title: Fishing session at Bottletree park

Weather: Humid with no wind at all

Feeling tired after work, we decided not to go prawning but go prawn viewing instead at Bottletree park near my house. We reached there around 7:15pm and settled down for dinner by the big fishing pond. It was supposed to be a nice "romantic" by the "sea" kind of dinner but it turned out to be a BIGGGGG disappointment.

Food was not nice and was expensive. There was no breeze and he was perspiring like a running tap. Haha. We made up our mind not to go there for food anymore. This was the third time eating there and also the last time we will eat there!

After the dinner, we went to see others prawning. We nearly went to prawn as well but we managed to curb it after seeing the poor catch rate of others. Watching was quite fun too and time passed so fast and it was almost 10pm.

We decided to leave the place. Beside the prawn pond was longkang fishing for 3-12 years old kid. He started bragging how good he will be if he is allowed to fish. I told him to put his words into action and he, a big old kid started to catch the small fishes inside the children’s pond. True enough, he caught 3 fishes in the end but he used ermm… more than 15 mins to do it? Am I right JH? Haha… I think the kids can definately catch more than you with the same amount of time!!!

Title: Prawning session - 28 in total
Date: 26 April 08 (Sat)
Venue: Sin Ming Industrial Park

I went there at 5:15pm and met JQ and Nix who reached there one hour before me. Promising that I will get 10 prawns before JH come to join me one hour later, I quickly paid at the counter and started the prawning game… True enough I was quite successful and managed to get 7 prawns when JH reached. I was quite contented with this result as this was the first time I prawn without him.

He took over and managed to hook up a few more too. One thing worth mentioning is Nixon’s catch. He caught a couple of big ones and hooked up a giant one. (by luck during the Loh Hey guy Loh Hey) Everyone around him was admiring and envying on this giant catch.

Around 8pm, all of us were feeling famished. We break for a dinner at the Zhi Char located at the beer garden. We brought 25 small prawns to the stall and asked the chef to cook for us. A lady with a weighing machine hand held on to our plastic bag and quoted $12 for it. Though at first thought we think that that was expensive, we were extremely pleased with the final product-claypot of drunken prawns. とてもおいしか? 盲郡扦梗?BR>> After replenished our energy, four of us continued prawning till 11:30pm. The result was 28 prawns for the day.

Record Breaking Night!

Venue: Bishan
Baits: Chicken Heart
Time: 1505pm - 1905pm
Weather: Cloudy
Rig: Floater

Went back to bishan again after yesterday pathetic catch.
Pay the money and off we start prawning.

Took the rod first and cast it into the water. Saw the float moved a bit and within 2-3 mins i landed my first prawn of the day.

Passed the rod to cx and she too landed her prawn in ten mins time.
Passed the rod back to me and i landed another prawn in less den five mins. Passed the rod back to Cx and she landed another again! Wow… What a gd start!

Cx proceed with her dinner and during her dinner for abt 10-15 mins. I landed one after another prawn. Can say one prawn/min!
At 1805pm, when 3 hours had passed. We have a total of 33 prawns!
Me 23 and Cx 10!

Continue for another hour with another six more prawn into our net.Me 3 and Cx 3.
Therefore Overall Catch for the day! A Record Breaking of 39 PRAWNS!

Only the word "SHIOK" can describe our feeling for this fantastic prawning session.

Today decided to try out a new prawning place at punggol marina country club. But due to the poor catch rate we observe, we decided to go back to our lao di fang.

Catch wasnt that great with me landing 5 and Cx landing 2.
Got numurous misses from me. Abt 7-8.

Quite disappointing and frustrated.
Nevertheless it still an enjoyable prawning session.

Fishing Trip(Tmj) On 160408

Venue: Taman Jurong Fishing Village
Time: 1030am - 1730pm
Baits: 150gm of live prawns
Rig: Floater with apollo
Weather: Sunny

It been ages ever since i went to pond fishing. Finally on 16/4 (Wed) i am finally free.
Do some research and with the past experiences i am determined to break my record of max 4 fishes at tmj.

I set a target of at least 5 fishes before i set off from home.
Reach tmj at 1010am and started to setup. Got 100 gm of live prawns and make my first cast at 1025am.

Well there is abt another 5-6 rods. One guy who came earlier den me got his first strike after i make my first cast. I looked at my float and it is still there and i started to wonder whether it going to be another day where i go hm with 1-2 fishes or even worst a big fat ZERO!

Nonetheless, it still early and i told myself to think positive. After ard 20 mins of waiting, my float finally suddenly went down into the water! With excitement and high hopes, i slowly reel in my line and den give a hard strike! FISH ON.

The kbl make a few somersault in the air before i land it. My first fish!
With one fish in my red net, my confidence level raised. Hook another live prawn and off it went diving into the pond.
And my high hopes start going down as the seconds tick by.1 hour pass by and still no fish landed.

At 1230pm, i began to reel in my line to check my baits when halfway thru i feel a small tug. I reel in slower and i feel another tug. This time more stronger. Without delaying longer, i gave a hard strike. Well No 2. went into my red net.

Rebait and continue with my waiting game. This time it really a long wait. From 12.30pm all the way to 1530pm no fish landed.3 hours passed by and my stamina is dropping. Somemore it is super hot.

Decided to rest underneath a shelter, place my rod leaning on a chair beside my shelter. Was relaxing and in my own world when my rod suddenly moved. I took a quick glance on my line and it is going out fast.

I immediately sprang into action. Grab the rod. Reel in the excess line. Give a strike. And YES! Fish ON!.
One min of fight and i manage to land my No. 3! Well hopes raising. 2 more and i can break my record and i got 2 more hours more.

Rebait, Casted and started to wait again. 1 hour passed by and at 1630pm, i notice my float moving awkardly. Though it nv sink but i knew there is fish.

Slowly reel in my line and wack! Fish on. No.4 in my red net.Yeah. Though still havent got my fifth one but at least still got 4. And yes i got one more hour.

Rebait and casted and soon very fast it 1730pm. Times up!
Well no choice. Started to pack up. Took a picture of my catches.


But hey i still havent gave up. My rod is still leaning on the chair with the bait in the pond. Waiting for a mircale.
And mircale really happen when u dun give up.

Jus few seconds i took the picture of my 4 fishes. I saw my float sinking. I immediately rush to my rod, gave a strike and yes fish on!

It a longer fight and a fierce fight. And when i landed it abt in one min, i then know the reason. It bigger then my previous four.
And yes i achieve my target. Broke my record!

After yesterday pathetic catch, we are back the very next day again to finish up our remaining six hours.

I started prawning for the first 3 hours as Cx is not here yet.
Manage abt 13-14 prawns for the 3 hours before i passed the rod to her.
Bite rate is not very good with us bringing up only another 10 more prawns for the next 3 hours.

Today we sign up for the 9+1 hrs promotion and we spend 4 hrs leaving a balance of six hours for tml.

Catch is pathetic. Cant rem how much but shld be less then ten.

Revenge Prawning At Sin Ming On 060408(Sun)

Date: 6 April 2008 (Sun)
Venue: Sin Ming Prawn Fishing
Time: 18:00 - 21:00

Due to the poor catch rate at Bottle Tree Park, 6 of us decided to go back to our old place. We had 3 rods, 1 rod per couple. We had high expectations, due to JQ and Nix getting record breaking 22 prawns on the previous day.

We waited and waited and were disappointed. The overall catch rate at the pond was not good, though the "Ah Bui lo heh" for 3 times… There were prawns inside the pond, its just that they did not eat our bait. May be ‘Ah Bui" fed the prawns before they were being released??? Haha…

Anyway, it was record breaking on that day for the 6 of us as well. We broke our poorest prawning record. On the average, each couple got 5-6 prawns, and JQ and Nix were the champions - they had 8.

We packed the prawns into the plastic bag as usual and the owner uncle saw us and suggested to us why not we BBQ the prawns. We told him that with so little prawns, there is no need to BBQ. Guess what, he said he will give us prawns!!! He gave us a net of live prawns (more than 30 i think) for us to BBQ. Nice uncle…

He even taught us how to marinate the prawns etc when he saw us washing the prawns at a corner. Overall it was a nice trip because we had free prawns and we had tried to BBQ the live prawns for the first time. The prawns were tasty as they were very fresh and well done.

Bottle Tree Park Prawning on 050408

After prawning in Sin Ming for a few times, we decided to try somewhere nearer to my place - Bottle Tree Park. We went on a evening, with two newcomers, Sis and Eric.

We shared a rod, and JH began first. He got a few misses and finally caught the first. To our surprise, the prawn was small compared to those at Sin Ming. Thats the reason for the misses - small prawns are more difficult to be hooked up than big ones.

After he caught 3 prawns, it was my turn. I went to a hot spot but waited and waited but there was no movement. Passed on my rod to Sis to break my curse and silence. Surprisingly in less than five minutes, the newcomer caught one right in front of me. I took over the rod and true, the curse was broken. I caught my first!!!

Then was Eric’s turn. He was new too. He got lots of misses, heartpain for him…
JQ and Nix came around 20:10 to see hows the prawning environment and catch rate.
Our prawning ended at 20:40.

We hooked up a total of 7 prawns and JH caught another 1 with his hand.

Conclusion: Bottle Tree Park is not a good place to prawn. Too crowded, small ponds and small prawns. We decided to go Sin Ming the very next day to revenge.
