Finally A 2nd Place.....

Venue: Fishing Paradise (BTP)
Time: 9.30pm - 3am
Bait: Tilapia
Rig: Apollo
Weather: Strong Wind & Rain After 12am
Date: 14th May 2010 (Fri) - 15th May 2010 (Sat)

Started fishing at 9.30pm while waiting for Dewei, Jieying & Serene to join me.

The night started pretty slow. No bites for me at all. Neighbour managed to land one pretty small fish and that abt all.

In my mind, I was telling myself..."It gotta be another fishless day" But well fishing is not totally abt landing fishes only. Just relax and chill, I reminded myself...

I moved over to one of the shelter on my right at ard 11.30pm after the bunch of teenagers have left. 15 mins later the 3 of them finally reached.

Was reeling in my line to check on my bait when I found out that it was entangled with another angler's line...Was trying to clear the beehoon when suddenly the braided line that tangled with my leader got pulled and left 2 cuts on my fingers!

What the......!!! Lesson learnt... Always reel in all the line before you try to clear any beehoon!!!

Was chatting with Dewei when finally my rod gave a strong bend at ard 12.30am!!! When I grabbed my rod, I knew the bugger on the other end of the line is going to be give me a tough time.

I din even have the chance to strike and set the hook. My rod just kept bending and my reel kept screaming in pain! Tried several times to reel in but totally cant!

Few anglers on my left saw what was happening and immediately kept their lines out of the water. Thanks! Great sportsmanship displayed!

The bugger dashed towards my left and went further out to the middle of the pond. I tried to pump it whenever it stopped and gathered as much line back as possible. After 5 mins of fighting, it finally 'gave up' as I started to pump it back towards me.

Thought that the fight was over but I was wrong. My reel went singing again as this bugger went for another run away from me!!

My right arm was aching and in my mind I was worried that I might lose this bugger anytime too......

Finally......after another 5 mins of tug of war, I managed to pump it to the side of the wall. Gave a couple more pumps before it finally surfaced!!!

A Redtail Catfish!

Time to weigh this monster..

And it weigh 14.5kg which landed me in the 2nd place for the night competition

The head is big!

Finally, a picture of me and the beauty who helped me to win $50 FP voucher!

The Big Fat Cutie!

Venue: Fishing Paradise (BTP)
Time: 7.15pm - 11.45pm
Bait: Tilapia
Rig: Apollo
Weather: Cloudy
Date: 7th May 2010 (Fri)

There was a competition going on again. Top first and second heaviest catch will be able to walkaway with $100 & $50 FP vouchers respectively.

Rented the tackles and proceed to fish! Was told there was no more Koi. No choice, have to make do with the tilapias.

It was pretty quiet for the first 2 hr plus. Suspecting that it could be the bait problem, I decided to get some bread to try out later.

Chunxia reached ard 9.30pm with my dinner. Was having my dinner halfway when I saw my rod tip moved abit. Did not really care abt it thinking it was the tilapia moving that caused it. Cont with my dinner when my rod suddenly gave a super sharp bend!!!

It bounced back after the first bend and then bend again!!! Quickly put down my dinner and grabbed my rod.

Gave a strike and.......Nothing..........!!!! Oh no!!! Gone?? Sigh... Gave my reel a couple of turns when I felt the FISH!!!

IT STILL THERE!!!! Phew~ Quickly reeled in the line when it gave a high jump abt 15 meters away. At that moment, I swear I thought I going to lose it.

When it hit back into the waters, my reel started screaming in pain. Line was peeled out like nobody biz and I thought I just set it to ard 90%!!

After a few burst of runs, I started to pump it toward me. In my mind, I was wondering what could it be....

KBL? Rohu? Cant be Rohu as I using tilapia as bait. My question was finally answered when I saw a super round and fat fella surfacing out of the water.

And Yes!!! It a big fat Pacu tipping the scale at 7.7 kg!!!

Staff weighing the fish

7.7 kg Pacu

Releasing it back........

Sad to say, my 7.7 kg Pacu did not managed to squeeze into the Top 2 heaviest catch of the night.

Did not managed to win any prize but in my heart I already got the best prize.

My First Redtail Catfish

Venue: Fishing Paradise (BTP)
Time: 7pm - 12am
Bait: Koi
Rig: Apollo
Weather: Cloudy
Date: 30 Apr 2010 (Fri)

Alright.... Long story cut short....

Arranged for a catchup with Eugene few days back. He came to pick me up at 6pm and off we proceed to Fishing Paradise!

Rented the tackle, bought the baits and my line hit the water at 7pm.

Registered couple of bites but I landed my first fishy only at ard 8.15pm. Eugene went off to help me get my Mac Spicy while I casted out my Koi ard 1 metre out.

Was relaxing on the chair looking up into the sky when my rod started bending! Quickly grabbed the rod and gave a firm strike! Fish On!!!

The fishy was strong despite it size! My drag was locked to 90% but it still managed to make several runs. I got no choice but to keep pumping trying to gain the lines back as the line on the house reel was limited.

Took me ard 5 mins before it finally surfaced!

And yes a Redtail Catfish!!!!

It weighed 4.2kg on the scale and I was the first to land a fish for the Mini Competition held that night!

Anyway I landed another Catfish at ard 9.30pm. But sad to say, it did not come with a redtail.

Walking Catfish

We stayed till 12am for the lucky draw before we called it a day.

And guessed what? I won 3 fishing hours!!!

Definitely a great day for me!
