Bait: Bread
Rig: Floater

On the way....

Some cute poses along the way

Fishing at this pond is very different. Normally, I will wait for the float to sink and let the fishy run and swallow the bait before I set the hook.

But here is different. Once the float sink, reel in the slack line immediately and set the hook fast.

We kept missing many hookups until I managed to get the correct tactic. Managed to hook up 3 fishes.

However 2 fishes were "auto released" before we managed to snap any pictures.

First Trip To Ah Tiong's Pond

Venue: Ah Tiong's Pond
Time: 9.45pm - 1.30am
Bait: Live Prawns & Small Fishes
Rig: Single hook rig with split shot
Weather: Slight drizzling
Date: 19 Mar 2010 (Fri) - 20 Mar 2010 (Sat)

Planned to try out PRPP but last min decided to head down to Ah Tiong's Pond.

We had a hard time locating this pond as it was pretty inaccessible. Took us abt 1/2 an hour before we finally found Ah Tiong's Pond.

Ah Tiong's Pond

This pond is pretty big. Water quality seems good and staffs are very helpful. Only bad thing is that the insects and mozzies there are pretty fierce.

Proceed to setup at a quiet corner. Got a take within 1/2 an hour! But it was lost within secs as I never set the hook properly. Sigh.

Proceed to our 2nd spot which was recommended by one of the staff there. It took me one hour before I finally broke my egg at ard 11pm plus.

Saw my line moving and the next moment my rod gave a sharp bend. Set the hook twice this time round to be sure I dun lose another fish. It gave a few powerful runs for the net but I managed to pump it out.

Took me ard 1 min before it was landed.

Est 800 grams Ang Kuey

Pond was pretty quiet until 1am when it was time for fish release.

Qw managed to land a Mangrove Jack during this period breaking his egg too. It was est ard 900 grams.

As both of us need to wake up early the next day, we left before our time was up.

A Gift From The Sea Dragon

Venue: East Coast (Pussy Spot)
Time: 9.30pm - 1.30am
Bait: Peeled Dead Prawns
Rig: Apollo
Weather: Fair
Date: 12 Mar 2010 (Fri) - 13 Mar 2010 (Sat)

It been a long time I went fishing. It even a longer time I went back to the wild.

Was quite busy due to Cny and also due to the recent bad catches, I started to lose the urge of wetting my line.

Did not harbor any hopes this time round. Met up with Qw and reached this spot where we caught a few catfishes previously at ard 9.15pm

Slowly setup my tackle and started the waiting game. The night was pretty quiet with 1 or 2 occasional bites.

Did not expect to catch anything already when Qw saw my rod gave a small nod at ard 11.40pm.
Looked at my lightstick and it gave another small nod. In my heart, I was telling myself it gotta be another small fish nibbling at the other end. Did not really care and told Qw, will wait for the rod to bend then I go and strike.

Indeed, the next moment the rod started to bend! Sprint towards my rod, reeled in the slack and WHACK!!!!

'Fish' ON! Could feel something on the end of the line. Pumped a couple of times and there was no fight.... Just felt heavy......

Grouper!?!? Eel!?!? I was thinking what it could be when I finally landed it.

First thought was a crab before I heard Qw shouted "LOBSTER!!!"

My First Lobster!
