3rd Trip On Chongster Boat

Venue: Changi Offshore
Time: 8.30am - 6pm
Bait: 1.5kg Live Prawns
Rig: Apollo & Long Snood Bottom
Weather: Partly cloudy
Boat: Ah Chong's Boat
Date: 26 June 2009 (Lunar 4th) Fri
Kakis: Nana, Irfan, Joel and Me

As usual, we met up at ard 7.50am at changi village. Took our breakfast, tapao lunch, bought live prawns and off we chiong...

It was a pretty great day. Weather was perfect. Current was perfect. Company was perfect. However catch was only great in the morning.

Reach our first spot (Changi Naval Base) at ard 8.30am. Quickly lowered down our lines and started the waiting game.

Our Boat

We were not alone. Ah Chai, Ah Fong and one more boat were parking side by side with us.

Ah Chai's Boat

Bites were coming in pretty fast. So fast that we were changing one live prawn every min. There were plenty of small fishes ard. Lowered the live prawn down and immediately you could feel the bite!

Joel and me got so fedup that we switched to dead prawns instead to reserve our live prawns volume.

Joel broke the silence first with a small Ack. After the first fishy, we started landing fishes. We got more than 10 fishes at our first spot. But sad to say, most of them are smallies (Indian Grouper)

Ah Chong managed to land 2 biggies on handline. One AK followed by one Chermin. Well done!!!

Ang Zho (1.5kg)

Chermin (1.2kg)

I managed to land one decent size grouper too. Nearly lost this bugger while Irfan was helping me to net it up. It gave one last burst to safety when it saw the net. After some struggling, we finally managed to land it with Ah Chong's help and I found out that the hook was hooked very near to the edge of the mouth. One more run, it gotta tear. Phew~

Grouper (1.2kg)

Other than this 3 decent size fishes, other catches worth highlighting were Nana 's Peh Heurr and Joel's Coral Trout. Both est ard 600 - 700 gm.

We moved on to our 2nd spot at ard 12pm.

Some views

It was super quiet over at the 2nd spot. Therefore we moved on to our third spot at ard 2pm.
Bites were coming in very slow and we had no hookups at all.....
Everyone were feeling super low morale when Nana managed to hook up this fellow.
Grunter (1kg)
Went on to our 3rd spot at ard 3pm...
Again....no FISH!
Our rods waiting to be bend.....!
Super quiet.... No bites at all.....
Went to our last spot at ard 4pm plus.... LAST CHANCE!

Guess luck was not with me in the noon. Got a BIG FAT EGG! Luckily, I still managed to land a few fishes in the morning.
Ah Chong and Joel managed to land one table size grouper each at ard 5-6pm. Not bad!!
Irfan managed to land one kitty too.
As for Nana, she managed to hook onto a squid and like the previous time she 'released it back' into the water again. LOL!
On the otherhand, Joel hooked onto a squid too. Thinking that it was rubbish, he actually tried to shake it off!!! Luckily I saw it and immediately netted it up!
Mr Squidy
Decided to call it a day at ard 5.45pm...
Fishes in icebox

Back to TMJ

Date: 12th June - 13th June
Time: 10pm - 7am
Rig: Float
Bait: Live Prawns
Weather: Lighting and Raining ard 3am
Venue: TMJ Main Pond

Finally back after so long....

Unlucky day for us. My float sink 5-6 times but I managed to land only 1 TN. It was a biggie which I estimated ard 2kg.

On the otherhand Joel landed 3 KBL. All at least 1kg in size.

Now came the shocking part.
While packing up, I noticed that the keep line have came off. That also meant all our fishy are "released" back into the pond...

Sigh..managed to only pick back 1 KBL which was floating nearby.

Spotted 1 fishy floating in the middle of the pond. Thinking that it might be our fish, I fixed on my lure and foul hook it back.

Judging from the appearance, it was definitely not ours. It seem to die quite some time already.

There no way we could find back our fishes. Gave up searching and went home.

4th Year Anniversary (Batam View Beach Resort)

5th June 2009 marks our 4th year together.

Therefore we decided to make a trip down to Batam to celebrate our 4th year anniversary as well as to take a good break.

We booked a 1 bedroom villa over at the Batam View Beach Resort. Price is abit steep but it was definitely worth it!

~5th June 2009~

Met Cx early in the morning at ard 6.45am and cabbed down to Tanah Merah Ferry Terminal.

Proceeding to the counter

It was pretty fast from SG to Batam... We took only ard 30 mins and there we are.......

Upon arrival, we were welcome by friendly staffs from Batam View.
Minibus to fetch us to the resort....

Took another 20 mins and we finally reached Batam View Beach Resort!!!
Once we checked into our villa, we immediately proceed to the balcony.

With the sea just infront of me, how could I resist the itchness??? Without any hestitation, I proceed to setup my tackles.

Preparing the fish head for the crab net

Setting up the crab net...

And off it went into the clear blue sea.......

I was using Kelong Sotong as bait. Bites were quite constant but sadly there was no catches at all. As the terrain is covered with rocks, I lost quite a number of sinkers and rigs over there..

Feeling abit frustrated and hungry plus my missus wanted to go shopping. We proceed over to the shopping centre 30 mins drive away from the resort for lunch and some shopping.

Reached Matahari at ard 2.30pm

Lunch at Marybrown!

Our Favourite.............A&W!!!

There was not much things to shop over at the shopping centre. We bought 2 Polo Ralph shirts, instant noodles, beers, hotdogs, mineral water and we went back at 5.30pm.

Headed for our Welcome Drink first before we returned to our room. The Welcome Drink was just syrup mixed with water.

Jetty

After taking some photos over at the jetty, we went back to our villa for a short rest before we headed out again for our dinner at the Kelong Restaurant.
