Grouper Again~!

Date: 17/04/09 - 18/04/09
Venue: East Coast (Carpark C)
Bait: Kelong Sotong
Rig: Apollo Rig
Time: 12am - 5.30am
Weather: Fair

Went back to East Coast again to cure some itchness. Irfan and Joel came to pick me up at ard 11am (thanks man).

We reached our spot at ard 11.30am and proceed to setup our tackles. The tide is upcoming and will be 2.3m high at ard 3am.

Thinking that the tide is in our favour, our hopes rosed. However we are wrong. Bites are very very rare.

At ard 4am, I decided to proceed to the other end of the breakwater to cast. It was exactly the same spot where I got my grouper last week.

Grouper Spot

And it was a right choice. Within 10 mins, I saw my rod bend! Rushed over...and gave a strike.
Could feel some pull on the other end.. Yea.. Fish ON!

After 1-2 mins..
I landed this 300-500 grams grouper

Kept it alive by the seaside near to the breakwater

Pack up at ard 5.45am

My 2nd Wild Grouper!!!

Venue: East Coast (Carpark C)
Date: 10th - 11th April
Time: 12am-5.15am
Rigs: Long snood bottom feeder & Apollo Rig
Weather: Cloudy
Baits: Kelong Sotong

Recently just bought 2kg of Kelong Sotongs and decided to try it out tonight.

While waiting for Joel to come..

Met up with Joel at ard 11.15pm. To avoid midnight charges, we quickly flag down a cab and off we chiong!

Reached East Coast carpark 'C' at ard 12am and started to recee for spots.
We proceed to the nearest breakwater and immediately setup our tackles.
The tide is at it highest and this is the best time before it start to go down.

I started off with Long Snood Bottom Rig with a whole piece of Kelong Sotong. On and off could see the rod tip moving but most likely to be some crabs or small fishes.

It was ard 2am when I saw my rod performing a strong bend. Grab the rod and give a strike!
Could feel many small tugs at the other end and I knew Fish on...

However when I am pumping it in, it never struggled anymore......

It turn up to be a EEL. The eel kept winding itself ard my rig making a freaking mess.

We took quite sometime to finally settled the mess.

However, the hook have already pierce thru it throat. Could not unhook it at all.

Chance of survival is very low, therefore Joel decided to make good use of it. He cut its tail to use as bait.

Look at it eyes... going to pop out soon...

As my rig is totally ruined, I setup a apollo rig this time round.

While waiting for another fish..I took some pics.

View from the breakwater

By 5am, tide is already v low. There is still no action other than the eel.
Super bright moon and my rod

Since there is not much action and tide is against our favour, Joel and me decided to pack up at six am.

It was ard 5.10am when I spotted my rod tip bending a little. Thinking that it was again some small fishes or crabs, I din really bother abt it.

It was when Joel told me confirm Fish On! Then I realised I have hit a Fish!

He saw the rod peforming a ugly bend. Immediately ran over to my rod and give a strike!

Yes! Fish ON!!! Took abt 3 mins before I managed to pump it up to the water surface but it got stuck on some rocks with seaweeds.

No choice, told Joel to hold on to my rod. Grab my lipgrip and went down the breakwater. Slipped down while making my way down. Got many cuts on both my palms but hack care lah. Fish more impt! Haha!

After some struggling, finally a decent size Grouper!

Me and my Grouper...

Decided to pack up after landing the grouper. Left at ard 5.30am.

A Trip to Pulau Ubin (Recee Mission)

Weather: Sunny (12pm-1pm), 2 Heavy Rain(2pm-3pm)
Venue: Pulau Ubin
Time: 12pm - 7pm
Date: 4th Apr 2009
Few weeks back, Cx told me her frens wanted to go Pulau Ubin on 4th Apr. Immediately, fishing came into my mind.
Prepare some lures and wanted to try Lure Fishing there. But end up nv fish at all. Instead I went on a recee mission for good fishing spots.
Met up with Cx frens ard 12.30pm and off we are at the Changi Jetty.
Top View of the Jetty

Waiting for 12 persons to board the BumBoat

Off we go~~
It was quite a short distance from Sg to Pulau Ubin. We took only 5-10 mins and there we are.
Pulau Ubin!

Cx with her frens

We went straight to the bicycle rental shops.
Saw the signboard? Is It Real $2?
NOPE! I pay $10
Cx with her bicycle
Cycled passed quite a few places.
This place is one of the first few places. It is a muddy pond with very shallow water.
What is interesting is that, you will be able to find alot of mudskippers there.
Cx and Evelyn

However just less than 1 hr upon landing on Pulau Ubin. We experienced our first heavy rain.
We are totally drenched and we have to make a dash for the nearby shelter.

Our Shelter ~Belatok Hut~
As you can see, many pple are taking shelter there from the heavy rain

The rain stopped after abt half an hour. By then we are already surrounded by a whole troops of commando trained mozzies.
Therefore we decided to get our way out and cont our ride. Well it turn out to be a wrong decision.
10 mins of riding, we got caught into our 2nd heavy rain..... This time round, no shelter is available...
Cx in her beautiful yellow dress.. Haha!

The rain lasted another half an hour! We were just standing there 'bathing' in the heavy rain.

After the rain, we make our way to Chek Jawa.
One of the beach we passed by on the way to Chek Jawa.
Cx and her frens (Apparently we were all drenched!)

Me and Cx

Actually wanted to stop there and do some luring. But was informed by KK, fishing is not allowed here....Sigh..
Chek Jawa! We reached...

And then I saw this signboard.........No Fishing!

View from the beach

As we make our way on the long bridge at Chek Jawa, I spotted many jelly fishes in the super clear blue water.
Jellyfish!
Cx and her frens (Saw Evelyn holding onto one of her slipper? It broke and she tied it using my fishing line! LOL)
Dunno when this pic is taken. (Fishing rod kept nicely in the rod bag)
Want to know why it is kept nicely in the rod bag?
Cos of this stupid signboard! Wah liew...why so many No Fishing signboard!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Some views of Chek Jawa

We spotted many Mudskippers!

And many mini Crabs too!
On our way out...

We passed by this 'museum'

Behind this 'museum', there is a beach with a jetty!! Fishing come to my mind again...but wait...
Saw that signboard again?? Cant see??

Yeah you are correct 'No Fishing' again!

After cleaning ourselves up at the toilet beside the 'museum', we proceed to our next destination

Directions

KK say want to bring us go see wild boars.
Off we go~

We passed by one quarry on the way. Very beautiful and calm.
The water is very clean and blue
Some views of the quarry

Cx and frens..

Soon we reached the beach leading to the wild boar. KK said that we are going to a family where they reared a wild boar.
Some tents pitched by the beach. This time round, there is no 'No Fishing' signboard ard...
But I have already dropped the idea of fishing....

We went further in and finally reached the family that reared the wild boar. Spotted 2-3 anglers fishing.
While Cx and her frens proceed to see the wild boar.. I went over to chat with one of the angler.
One of the angler on the middle boat gutting Cat Fishes.

I went over and take a look. He caught 2 catfishes and wanted to pass it to those bangahdesh workers.
The gutted catfishes

His rod. Heard from him in order to fish, we will have to seek permission from the owner first.

2 more anglers fishing at the other side.

The Wild Boar. Cx say it cute..............Hmmmmm.............

Beside Wild Boar, they have Rabbits too!
Next Stop, KK brought us to a Coconut Shop. He say the coconuts sold here is very sweet and nice!
Oh Yeh ... Oh Yeh..
Y U SO LIKE THAT!
BUY A DRINK LA
LOL Funny Quote~~

The Coconut shop
We bought 3 Coconut at $2.30 each. Taste sweet but the meat so so only.

The Dog outside the shop

After the refreshing coconut drink and short break, we decided to head back to the jetty for our dinner.
On the way back, we saw another nice quarry..

One grp pic (Kindly ignore my shag face)

Our bicycles

We took abt 20 mins to get back to the jetty. After returning our bikes, we went to a resturant near by for our dinner.
Ubin First Stop Restaurant

Inner View of the Restaurant

We order Chili Crabs, Man Tou, Sambal Kangkongs and Porks.
Including drinks and rices, it cost us ard $65.
Not really cheap as I expected. It is abt the same as Sg.
The Sri Lanka Crab cost $30 ++ itself.
Personally feel it is quite worth it as the food are very fresh and in big portions. Other than those
IRRITATING HOUSEFLIES, I will think it is a nice place with good food.

After our wonderful dinner, it time to go back to Sg.
Back to the jetty

Cx hiding from my camera..Haha!

And back to SG!
