A Day Back at Pasir Ris Main Pond

Venue: Pasir Ris Main Pond
Time: 3pm - 12.15am
Bait: Kembong & Live Prawns
Rig: Apollo
Weather: Cloudy
Date: 16 Apr 2010 (Fri)

Finally back to the pond where I got my first decent size fish. Have always wanted to give it a visit in the day but could not find the time.

Did not place any high hopes in this pond at all. Just wanted to go and chill and relax.

Reached the pond at ard 2pm and proceed to setup. This time round I chose to stay at the carpark side.

At ard 3.45pm, was relaxing when I saw my rod gave a slight nod. Immediately grabbed my rod, reeled in the line and WHACK!!!!

Yes! Fish On. Fight was not that fantastic. Landed it in less than 1 min.

A 600-700 grams Ang Kuey.

Not too bad 1 fish already landed within the first hour...

It was a super long wait before the 2nd fishy was landed at ard 6.05pm.
In between, I landed one irritating Eel which was released immediately.

It was a 1.5kg Ang Zhuo with a lure in it mouth!!

This bugger gave me a good workout once I set the hook. It dashed left and right before it was landed.

Ang Kuey & Ang Zhuo

Sadly there was no more bites after the 2nd fish. Waited till 12am before we decided to pack up.

The Day She Won....

Venue: Fishing Paradise (BTP)
Time: 1.30pm-5.15pm
Bait: Bread & Sausage
Rig: Apollo
Weather: Sunny
Date: 12 Apr 2010 (Sun)

Went back to Fishing Paradise hoping to cure some itch. Bites rates were super low until the boss came over and pass me some power baits at ard 4pm.

Hook on to the sausage and casted it out. Power bait was indeed power! Got numerous bites but did not managed to have any hookup at all.

The fishes are pretty smart. They spitted out the hook every time before I even managed to give a strike.

One of the staff told me the fishes are getting smarter ever since the Shimano Fishing Competition.

Was pretty pekchek with all the misses until Cx took over the rod. She went near to the hut to fish...

Did not put any high hopes on her. Was playing my psp when I spotted her with a CURVED rod!

Quickly made my way there and saw her fighting a fishy!

The fish made several big splashes before it surfaced..

It was a Walking Catfish!

Well done!!! Once again, she proved me wrong

Hao Peng You Hui Lai Le!!!

Been holding tightly to the Golden Egg Medal for more than 2 months at Fishing Paradise. Today I finally broke my curse!

Reached the pond and quickly proceed to setup. First hour was very quiet without any bites at all.

It was only ard 4pm when my rod finally gave a sharp bend! Wow.... It had been so long ever since I saw my rod bending at BTP.

Gave a few jumps before it finally surrender.

First fish of the day, Rohu!

20 mins later, 2nd Rohu landed

15 mins after the 2nd Rohu was landed. I got another hookup!

Gave a strike and passed the baton over to Chunxia...

Fought the bugger for 1-2 mins before it finally surfaced..

3rd Rohu landed by Chunxia

Was wondering whether it going to be a Rohu day when my rod gave a sharp bend at 5pm!
Line was peeling out and my reel was screaming in pain.

Quickly grabbed my rod, set the hook and the fight began! It gave a few long runs right and left before it finally gave up.

Chao Praya!!!

Est 7-8 kg Chao Praya

Got one burst off and a few misses before I finally landed the last fishy of the day.

It was a Baby Patin.

Est 1-2 kg Baby Patin

Wanted to pack up at ard 6-7 pm when one of the staff(Heihei) passed me one tilapia and some hotdogs to try.

Nice gesture from him! But sad to say, there was no more hookups.

Total Catches of the day:
3 Rohus
1 Chao Praya
1 Baby Patin

Family Fishing Pond

Venue: Family Fishing Pond
Time: 5.30pm-6.30pm
Bait: Bread
Rig: Floater
Weather: Slight drizzling
Date: 20 Mar 2010 (Sat)

After a great time watching Disney On Ice with the kids, I decided to bring them for some fishing!

On the way....

Some cute poses along the way

The cutie princess -Sarah-

Waiting for a cab at the bus stop

Fishing at this pond is very different. Normally, I will wait for the float to sink and let the fishy run and swallow the bait before I set the hook.

But here is different. Once the float sink, reel in the slack line immediately and set the hook fast.

Sarah getting ready for some ACTION!!!

We kept missing many hookups until I managed to get the correct tactic. Managed to hook up 3 fishes.

However 2 fishes were "auto released" before we managed to snap any pictures.

A Small Tilapia

After 1 hour of fun fishing, it time to go home.......................

First Trip To Ah Tiong's Pond

Venue: Ah Tiong's Pond
Time: 9.45pm - 1.30am
Bait: Live Prawns & Small Fishes
Rig: Single hook rig with split shot
Weather: Slight drizzling
Date: 19 Mar 2010 (Fri) - 20 Mar 2010 (Sat)

Planned to try out PRPP but last min decided to head down to Ah Tiong's Pond.

We had a hard time locating this pond as it was pretty inaccessible. Took us abt 1/2 an hour before we finally found Ah Tiong's Pond.

Ah Tiong's Pond

This pond is pretty big. Water quality seems good and staffs are very helpful. Only bad thing is that the insects and mozzies there are pretty fierce.

Proceed to setup at a quiet corner. Got a take within 1/2 an hour! But it was lost within secs as I never set the hook properly. Sigh.

Proceed to our 2nd spot which was recommended by one of the staff there. It took me one hour before I finally broke my egg at ard 11pm plus.

Saw my line moving and the next moment my rod gave a sharp bend. Set the hook twice this time round to be sure I dun lose another fish. It gave a few powerful runs for the net but I managed to pump it out.

Took me ard 1 min before it was landed.

Est 800 grams Ang Kuey

Pond was pretty quiet until 1am when it was time for fish release.

Qw managed to land a Mangrove Jack during this period breaking his egg too. It was est ard 900 grams.

As both of us need to wake up early the next day, we left before our time was up.

A Gift From The Sea Dragon

Venue: East Coast (Pussy Spot)
Time: 9.30pm - 1.30am
Bait: Peeled Dead Prawns
Rig: Apollo
Weather: Fair
Date: 12 Mar 2010 (Fri) - 13 Mar 2010 (Sat)

It been a long time I went fishing. It even a longer time I went back to the wild.

Was quite busy due to Cny and also due to the recent bad catches, I started to lose the urge of wetting my line.

Did not harbor any hopes this time round. Met up with Qw and reached this spot where we caught a few catfishes previously at ard 9.15pm

Slowly setup my tackle and started the waiting game. The night was pretty quiet with 1 or 2 occasional bites.

Did not expect to catch anything already when Qw saw my rod gave a small nod at ard 11.40pm.
Looked at my lightstick and it gave another small nod. In my heart, I was telling myself it gotta be another small fish nibbling at the other end. Did not really care and told Qw, will wait for the rod to bend then I go and strike.

Indeed, the next moment the rod started to bend! Sprint towards my rod, reeled in the slack and WHACK!!!!

'Fish' ON! Could feel something on the end of the line. Pumped a couple of times and there was no fight.... Just felt heavy......

Grouper!?!? Eel!?!? I was thinking what it could be when I finally landed it.

First thought was a crab before I heard Qw shouted "LOBSTER!!!"

My First Lobster!
