It been almost 2 weeks I have wet my lines...
Couldn't find any kakis and therefore decided to proceed on my own to Marina South Pier for some quickie.
Was preparing my stuffs when LauLau told me she got nth to do and wanted to try egging (Ended up no egging). Therefore cab down to meet her at ard 9.30pm. Bought water and some snacks and off we chiong to East Coast.
Strolled to the nearest breakwater, and was abt to settled down when I spotted that it was infested with XiaoQiangs....
Alamak CMI...and off we proceed to the next spot. The Grouperland!!!
The spot where I kept landing Groupers on my previous trips but not this time...Haha
Spotted 2 rods on the breakwater. One short rod on the far left and one long rod in the middle.
Made my way to the far right and proceed to setup my tackle...
While setting up my tackle, we heard a "OOI" from afar. Ignoring it, I casted out my first squidy.
It didn't took too long when my rod do a spectacular 90 degrees bend. Wow...first cast only leh!
Somemore not even 5 mins after I casted.
Grabbed my rod, gave a STRIKE! Felt some jerks from the other end of the line and then gone......
Sigh~! Missed it. Suspect to be a decent size fellow.
Anyway while I was reeling back my line, I saw the rod in the middle dipped. My line had crossed its line. Thinking that it not possible as my cast was straight, I looked further and found out the middle rod was casted to the extreme right. In other words, the line was casted across the whole breakwater on the right!
Within secs, a malay angler came and started cursing and shouting at me. Wtf sia..cast like shit and then still come and curse and swear.
Stood up and went over and started to reason out with him. Told him I did not know he casted to the right and therefore our lines crossed. It was only then he calmed down and apologised to me. Ok la, forgiven.
Chatted abit with him and he turn out to be quite friendly. Anyway I moved my rod to the left side of his rod. Not interested in any conflicts. Just wanted to relax and enjoy my fishing.
My rod on the extreme left
Cont chatting with the malay angler and found out he purposely casted to the extreme right as he mentioned he caught stingrays this way on his previous trips.
Want to cast to the right is perfectly fine. But why put your freaking rod in the middle of the breakwater?
Anyway there was not much action thru out the night.
Night View
The tide went down at ard 2.30am. Since there was not much action, we proceed to explore the front of the breakwater. Hoping to spot any snagged sinkers too.
Bubu by the malay angler's friend. There was a crab inside the bubu.
Spotted quite alot of hermit crabs, crabs and worms along the front part of the breakwater..
Hermit Crabs
3 baby orange crabs in the small gap
Managed to pick up one small sinker but can't find it when packing up..Oops...
We walked back to the shore at ard 3am when the tide was moving up. Looked at my rod....
Not even a tug. Sigh...gotta to be a fishless night..
Reel back my line to check on my bait when I spotted this freaking white "maggot" feeding on my sotong. Yucks!
Another night view
Was super demoralised when my rod suddenly gave a sharp and fierce bend at 4.30am!!!!!!!!!!!
Looked at LauLau, stunned, couldn't believe my eyes when the rod gave another violent bend!
No time to lose! Picked up my rod, reeled in the slack line and gave a STRIKE! Fishy Fishy ON!
This bugger gave a few burst of short run after I striked. Kept the tension on and started to pump it in.
Before it was landed, it gave me the best fight of the day. It managed to take abit of my line out(My drag is 90% Max) and kept dashing back to the sea...
However, it was still no match to my tackle and was landed within 3-4 mins.
900 grams Guhood
When it was landed, I thought it was a Kim. Turned out to be a Guhood! Another fishy into my record.
Tied it to my sandpike
We packed up at ard 5.30am since there was no more action...
Guhood in the sink
