The Late Fightback

Venue: Changi Offshore

Bait: 1.8kg Live Prawns

Ever since the last boat trip abt a mth ago, I have been waiting for this day for a long time.

Still rem I only caught one mini grouper in my last boat trip. We have pathetic catches and Ah Chong recommended me to take today as he says the current today is good and we will be able to get plenty of fishes.

Immediately ON him and there we are on his boat today.

Irfan and Yasing reached Changi Village at ard 8.30am. Tabao lunch, bought live prawns and off we proceed to Changi Jetty.

Getting ready to set off~~

Some 'Interesting' photos of the boat toilet. (Children are advise to skip this part. Haha)

Reach our first spot at ard 9am. Within five mins, Ah Chong managed to land a small Ack.
Seem like a Good Start!
My tackle for the day

However the Ack is the ONLY action in the morning. I got NO bites at all. Everyone morale is super low especially when our expectation is so high.

To make things worse, it started raining ard 11am.

Threatening Black Clouds

And then it started raining

At this point of time, I have already lost all hopes..
Ah Chong decided to move to another spot away from the rain. A spot behind Pulau Tekong.

Look at the heavy rain...

We stopped at a spot behind Pulau Tekong and started drifting..

We hit several coral reefs and lose quite a number of rigs there.
What can be worse? Zero catch, Losing rigs, Heavy rain....lol

In my mind, I told myself. Just give me one fish. One fish I will be very satisfied.
However there is still no action.
It was until 2pm plus when Yasing landed a Ang Kuey. Wow... finally sia...
Finally someone landed a fishy.

Joel managed to hit onto a fish too but it managed to escape. What a waste!
We changed to another spot and this time round I finally landed a fish. I was quite lucky. The fish took my bait within 1 min after I lowered my bait.

Gave a strike and fish on! Less than a min later, my first fish (Ang Kuey) is landed!
Morale increased, rebait and started waiting for my 2nd one.
Was chatting with Joel when I felt a super strong PULL. Without any hesitation, I gave a strike. This time round the fight is stronger. In my heart, I told myself.. must be a biggie.
Indeed it was a 1kg plus fatty gao. Took sometime to net it cos whenever Joel wanted to net it, it will make a dash for safety. At one point of time, it even drop out of the net in midair into the water again...
Nearly have heart attack. Lol. Kudos to Joel for helping me net several of my fishes.

From 3pm-6pm, I managed to land another 5 more fishy. I hit one tablesize Ack after the fatty gao.
Next came a tablesize Gao, a smaller Ack, a baby Shark and lastly a baby Ack.

What a sweet fightback...!
Irfan also managed to land 2 Acks and a Ang Kuey. As for Ah Chong, he landed one more baby Ack towards the end.
Nana managed to hook onto a big squid. Too bad, it was 'released' before she could land it.

Some of the spots we went.

A great fishing trip does not necessary mean Good Catches.
Kakis are also impt.
